It’s always special when we get to work with brands who change lives – and even better when we actually get to see it happen in-person.

Last week, Natalie and Bea from the CRUSH team had the pleasure of attending Fonetti’s Awards Ceremony for the 2025 National Read-Aloud Challenge.

Hosted at Amazon’s Headquarters in London, the day was all about celebrating the children, teachers, parents and schools who took part in the summer reading challenge, which took place last year.

As a campaign designed to encourage and motivate children to boost their literacy and grow their confidence by reading aloud, it’s a joy to have been able to support Fonetti to promote and grow the challenge with strategic marketing and design support.

The importance of literacy campaigns like the National Read-Aloud Challenge

The sad reality is that reading today is becoming less and less common for children to enjoy. In a world filled with distractions, parents and schools are increasingly struggling to motivate or find the time to get children and pupils to read. And as a direct result, it’s having a huge impact on their education and personal development.

The Read-Aloud Challenge was created to change this. As a free, summer-long initiative, it offers parents and teachers the unique opportunity of keeping their children reading throughout the summer holidays through Fonetti – a patented read-aloud app that improves reading skills with Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR).

With a vast library of books of all types of genres, Fonetti’s key offering is that it enables children to read independently whilst recording data that parents and teachers can then look at later.
