Chesterfield’s Visitor Information Centre (VIC) has won a Bronze Award in the ‘Visitor Information Provider of the Year’ category at the prestigious VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2012 Ceremony. Crush revamped and redesigned the VIC earlier in the year – we loved working with all the staff there, who are all dedicated to providing visitors with the best information possible and are passionate about our fabulous town.
The awards recognise Excellence in Tourism in England. Staff from the VIC were presented with their Bronze Award at an Awards Ceremony on 22 May 2012 at the Athena in Leicester.
Councillor Ken Huckle, Assistant Executive Member for Leisure, Culture and Tourism at Chesterfield Borough Council said: “We were thrilled to achieve a bronze award for Chesterfield’s Visitor Information Centre. The Centre had extensive refurbishment work done just a few months ago and staff have worked very hard through the changes so it’s a great testament to them in achieving this award.”
The assessors of the award said that the staff “gave an efficient and knowledgeable service with a caring attitude and demonstrated very good local knowledge”. The VIC also celebrated the fact that it had come first place in the VisitEngland mystery shopper exercise (the assessments for the awards are carried out by an independent body on behalf of VisitEngland). The Centre scored 98.44%, the top score out of 275 Information Centres in England. The quality of the overall visit was rated as excellent.
James Berresford, VisitEngland’s Chief Executive said “In a year when we received a record of 392 high quality applications winning a Bronze Award is a considerable achievement. Chesterfield VIC is now ranked in the top three businesses in their category for Excellence achieving one of the highest accolades which VisitEngland can bestow. I warmly congratulate them.”
Another great result for graphic design in Chesterfield!
